BOYS SPRING PROGRAM (GRADES K THRU 8)
INSTRUCTIONAL PROGRAM (K - 2ND GRADE)
Boys Kindergarten & Grades 1/2
The Boys Kindergarten
The Boys K & 1/2 program emphasizes safety, fun, and learning the skills and game of lacrosse. Full equipment is required (HYLA will provide helmet and stick). Teams will practice twice per week and typically play games on Sunday's. Kindergarten players will be incorporated within the 1/2 team for practices; as players progress enough with their stick skills, we may ask them to participate in some of the 1/2 games later in the season. 1/2 boys play a travel team schedule using a 7 versus 7 player format with smaller lacrosse goals and goalies. HYLA will work to schedule inter-squad scrimmages and with neighboring towns for Kindergarten players. Scrimmages are across the field sideways and require 2 pass attempts before shooting. No downward stick checking or body checks allowed. (Poke and Lift checks are acceptable). We will have “intra-squad” games as well as playing games in the Massachusetts Youth Lacrosse (Mass Youth Lax | Home) against similar teams from local towns. MYL requires balanced teams and no standings or scores are kept. The season begins indoors in late January as gym space in town becomes available and we move outdoors in early April and concludes in early June.

SELECT PROGRAM OVERVIEW (U13/U15)
We would like to offer a select team to both Boys and Girls in grades 5/6 and 7/8. It would require the players full commitment and add an additional practice and game per week. The games would be competitive, and scores and records would be kept resulting in potential additional playoff games.
Communication will go out when select try-outs are schedules and registration is open. We are looking forward to having a Select team at the 5/6 and 7/8 level for both boys and girls this year. Congrats to the 7/8 boys returning this year as 2023 Division III Champions!
